The stock rear differential and suspension was replaced with a 1964 Corvette independent rear suspension. The stock manual shift differential gear ratio has has been replaced with 3.08:1 gears. The stock Vette half-shafts have been replaced by modified ones that are 3 inches in diameter and have been shortened by 3 inches to fit the suspension track to the Spitfire. Custom adjustable, strut rods, and offset trailing arms from Vette Brakes & Products, St. Petersburg, Fl, replaced the originals. The original 11 inch Corvette rear drum brakes were retained. In Feb, 2012, the rear suspension was rebuilt and upgraded. See the 'Rear Suspension Project'.In the Fall of 2015, the drum brakes were replaced with disc brakes.
