Rear Suspension

The stock rear differential and suspension was replaced with a 1964 Corvette independent rear suspension. The stock manual shift differential gear ratio has has been replaced with 3.08:1 gears. The stock Vette half-shafts have been replaced by modified ones that are 3 inches in diameter and have been shortened by 3 inches to fit the suspension track to the Spitfire. Custom adjustable, strut rods, and offset trailing arms from Vette Brakes & Products, St. Petersburg, Fl, replaced the originals. The original 11 inch Corvette rear drum brakes were retained. In Feb, 2012, the rear suspension was rebuilt and upgraded. See the 'Rear Suspension Project' . In the Fall of 2015, the drum brakes were replaced with disc brakes.
