Frame Mods for Tremec 3550

This photo shows a closeup of the frame modifications to fit the Tremec 5-spd transmission into the car. Notice the removal of the original tunnel. The frame rails were narrowed by 1/2. 1/4 inch pieces were welded back in to provide the rigidity of the original frame - in fact, it is more rigid. This modification was possible because of the support of the substructure that was added when the frame was originally built.

Also in this photo, the firewall modifications are evident. The aluminum block that is visible where the transmission mount goes allowed the precise vertical alignment of the transmission; the transmission mount sits on top of the aluminum block.
