The original transmission of choice was a Muncie close-ratio 4-speed. This has been replaced by
a Tremec 3550 with a "PRO 5." Shifter. It was purchased from Fortes Parts Connection, Waltham, Md. Fortes prepared the transmission, normally used in Ford products, for a GM application it was a simple bolt-in effort. A new Weber clutch (disk and pressure plate) and a McLeod hydraulic throwout bearing was purchased from Weber/McLeod Industries, Placentia,Ca. This choice of equipment makes the car a true joy to drive. Just think of doing 80 mph at 2200 rpm with most of the torque and horsepower waiting to be unleashed.
