Feeding Frenzy

Intake Manifold Photo It was a difficult job to locate a low-profile intake manifold that would not sacrifice the low-end torque of the engine. A Weiand X-elerator manifold was selected. It has a single plane and an open plenum. This normally will affect the low-end performance of an engine. But Weiand has engineered the runners of the X-elerator to make up for the normal loss. I cannot tell any difference from the LT-1 highrise that I used to run. The 383 engine came with a Demon 650 "double pumper" Street Race carburetor. It still needs to be jetted for a leaner mixture, but it sure delivers the fuel.
